“When I grow up I want to be a rockstar, cowgirl, tap dancing, princess.”
I love pageants. I love them because they encourage and prepare young women to be anything they want to be. With almost 25 years of experience competing, judging, choreographing, and coaching, I am a pageant expert. I have captured local, state, national and international titles throughout my career including titles from both glitz and natural pageant systems, as well as from the Miss Universe and Miss America Organizations. Titles like Sunburst International Overall Queen, North Carolina State Cinderella Teen (Top 5 at Internationals), and Miss North Carolina Teen USA helped me open doors to participate in some truly “rockstar” experiences.
When I first started in this world of pageantry, I was just a shy, timid little 5-year-old girl with nappy, curly hair and the ugliest red, organza party dress you’ve ever seen (well, you’ve seen it now because it’s pictured). Since my first pageant, I have won hundreds of titles, jumped out of planes, lassoed cattle, climbed to great heights, and asked favors from complete strangers all because of the confidence I have gained from pageants.
After “retiring” from competition, I felt a responsibility to share the knowledge and confidence I’ve learned over the years. I founded The Finishing Touch Consulting, LLC to help pageant contestants polish their skills for success both on and off the stage. Since 2011, I have helped my clients capture local, state, national and international titles, and my choreography has been featured on the stages at Duke and Campbell Universities as well as on the Miss North Carolina state pageant stage. I enjoy serving on the Miss America Prep Committee for the Miss North Carolina Organization, and have helped coach Miss North Carolinas 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 on stage presence and personal development.
It takes the total package to win a pageant. That is why I focus on:
- Stage Presence
- Interview Skills
- Talent Choreography
- Paperwork
- Wardrobe Selection
I graduated from High Point University in 2009 with a B.A. in Human Relations and a Coaching Certification from N.C. State University in 2011. I have the experience and education to give contestants a unique coaching experience that will take them to the next level in their pageant career.
